Why hand-troweled surfaces look different from machine-finished ones, and whether it matters.
Microcement is a mix of minerals and polymers, but the finish depends on the person applying it. A hand-troweled surface carries small variations a poured floor or factory tile never will: the pressure of the trowel, the angle of each pass, the rhythm of the hand doing the work.
Those variations are why the same color can feel different from one room to the next, even using the same material. Most architecture is moving toward machine-perfect finishes, so a surface with this kind of texture stands out. It isn't a flaw to sand away. It's a record of how the surface was made.
